Last November 12, 2009, the Cebu Bloggers Society was invited to try out the newest pizza and pasta outlet in town, Brasco Pizza and Pasta!

Cebu Bloggers Society members pose in front of the 1-day-old Brasco Pizza!
Brasco is located at The Gallery in Juan Luna Avenue (formerly San Jose dela Montana), Mabolo, Cebu City.
First, why Brasco? Pizza is said to have come from Italy and the name Brasco sounds Italian-ish but then Brasco is actually short for Bryan’s Aspirations Company. Bryan Espina, the owner, is a confessed pizza-lover himself and coming from a family of food tycoons (the Espinas own MyJoy and Butterbean), he was inspired to put up his own food business after tasting different types of pizzas on his trips abroad. From those experiences, Brian made his own recipes, infused with American flavors. It took him 5 years of planning and research before he could finally open his own pizza parlor.

Brasco Pizza and Pasta desires to provide “value-for-money” pizza and pasta variants to the market and to serve quality food products that are worth the money the customers are paying.

They even put up several freedom frames on their walls so that customers can express themselves and feel at home.
Now, let’s move on to the fun part, the taste test!
Brasco Pizza and Pasta offers 13 pizza variants, pasta dishes, homemade ice cream, and shakes, among others.
It’s Pizza sizes are 10 inches, 14 inches, and 20 inches in diameter with current prices ranging from 119 to 812 pesos.
Spaghetti with Aligue. (Php138) Al dente pasta in tomato saunce and aligue (crab roe). The price is competitive and it’s definitely worth it. It is something to come back for. People who have high cholesterol levels should eat this with moderation though, haha. The dish can serve 3-5 people, depending on their appetite.

‘
Meaty Spaghetti with Pepperoni (Php147). Al dente pasta with tomato sauce and Italian sausage. The dish is fairly priced and is a must-try. The dish can serve 3-5 people, still, depending on their appetite.

14″ Brasco Pizza. (Php410) Brasco Pizza is made of freshly tossed thin crust topped with tomatoes, mozarella cheese, bacon, ham, pepperoni, sausage and home-made meatballs. The taste of the pizza is comparable to those of the authentic pizza parlors. This is because, according to the owner, they use premium ingredients, and they even import some of them just to suit their recipe and impress their customers. The owners aim to make available premium pizza at a much lower cost. The pizza can serve about 5 people.

Homemade Four Seasons Drink. Four fruits in one drink. The drink was very refreshing, it is a must-try too. Other four seasons drinks, especially those canned ones pale in comparison to this one. The best thing is, the drink is not too sweet, just perfect. Two-thumbs up!

Homemade Mango Shake. Another fresh fruit drink using really “fresh” mangoes. Same with the Four Seasons Drink, it is not too sweet either.

And finally, the last, and definitely, the BEST!
Brasco Crazy Bliss. (Php90) In other restaurants, this may be called “brownie-ala-mode” but hands down, Brasco’s version definitely takes home the crown! At Brasco, they use a hot brownie from their family-owned establishment Butterbean and on top of it is a scoop of their very own homemade ice cream. With or without the brownie, the sweet and creamy vanilla ice cream is a must-try. You might even be craving for more.

And that’s it. Our taste test ends there. Will I be coming back? Yes! Definitely! I was very much satisfied and on my next visit, I’ll make sure that the spaghetti with aligue and Crazy Bliss are among my orders.
Brasco Pizza and Pasta also offers deliveries at a minimum order of Php200 to residences and business establishments in Mabolo, Banilad and Lahug. So what are you waiting for, get a taste of Brasco, now!
